When the winds howl and the waves rise, the human heart naturally reaches for something solid. We reach for bank accounts, for relationships, for our own strength—and then discover, sometimes painfully, that none of it holds. But the psalmist writes of a different kind of anchor: *God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.* Notice the word **ever-present**. Not sometimes-present. Not present-when-you-have-it-all-together. Ever present. The storm you're facing today is not evidence that God has abandoned you. It may be the very classroom where you finally learn what an anchor is for. An anchor only does its work in rough water. In the harbor it's just dead weight. So let the wind blow. Let the waves rise. You are not drifting. You are held.
